<back - DANNY BROOKS - The distinctive Danny Brooks sound embodies a hybrid blend of original music based in Rock n' Roll, Blues, Soul, Country and Gospel. His songwriting and performing career has spanned three decades and has taken him across Canada and the USA. Jim Dickinson, legendary Memphis producer states "Danny's voice tells you he's been through the pain of experience and the promise of hope."  His songs say it all. Brooks' previous recordings have all received consistently excellent reviews from industry and fans alike. Brooks line goes straight back to rural poets and folk singers of the past such as Leadbelly and the legedary Hank Williams.

Danny's performance on the Juno nominated 'SAVED' with originals Still Standing Tall and Righteous Highway are Soul inspired and shows clearly the strength of a heartfelt delivery that's real, and musically universal. 'Since early childhood, I have loved and been moved by Gospel Music. It soothes the soul, uplifts the spirit and energizes! No wonder, since Gospel literally means 'GOOD NEWS'. We all love to hear good news, and this is news that brings joy, peace and I believe, healing!' Brooks' testifies. I discovered that all the great Soul singers that I admire, like Joe Tex, Solomon Burke, Bobby 'Blue' Bland, were influenced by greats like The Soul Stirrers, 5 Blind Boys of Alabama, and Rev. Jumpin' Jim Jericho. Danny once had the privilege to perform with Brownie McGhee, who told him "son fo' a white boy, you sho' nuff gotta suntan on the inside". HIS House Records recording artist, Danny Brooks, is a Toronto based singer/ songwriter who is at his best when he adds large doses of the Blues and Gospel to his songs. Like the autobiographical Still Standing Tall or his new release for HIS House Records, 'Rock This House'. Danny Brooks' latest is the second of a musical trilogy entitled the Soulsville Series. It features the musicians and singers from his band the Rockin' Revelators and produced by Richard Bell. It growls, it's sincere and it makes lyrics come alive with it's direct approach. Recorded in Brooks' Ontario farmhouse, the disc has tunes with strong structures and deep-felt lyrics, the title track is especially notable.
